With the beautiful weather we've been enjoying, it may be hard to imagine February is just around the corner—but it will be here before we know it. And with February comes one of the highlights of our year: the 66th Annual ISHA Convention!
This is always an exciting time for the Ethics Education Committee. Not only do we get to connect as a committee, but we also have the privilege of announcing the winners of Ethics in Action Video Contest.
Each year, we invite all Illinois NSSLHA chapters to take part in this fun and meaningful event. The goal? To spark thoughtful conversations around ethical issues in our field while also letting creativity shine. Chapters receive a prompt, then develop and film a short video in response, submitting it as an Instagram Reel. A panel of judges reviews each submission, and the top three winners receive cash prizes and are recognized across ISHA’s platforms.
At its core, this contest is about encouraging future professionals to engage with the complex and sometimes gray areas of ethics in speech-language pathology and audiology. By starting these discussions early, we hope to help students build confidence and a strong ethical foundation that will guide them throughout their careers.
We’ve been continually amazed by the talent, insight, and creativity that students bring to this contest. If you'd like a glimpse of previous entries, check out @IllinoisISHA on Instagram. Even better, join us at the convention! All videos will be showcased during the Knowledge Quest on Student Day, where we’ll announce this year’s winners.
Our goal is to have every NSSLHA chapter in Illinois represented in the contest this year. If you’re part of one, keep an eye out—contest details are dropping soon!
