Committee Updates: July 2025
Published in the July 2025 issue of the ISHA Voice.
- ISHA’s Multicultural Topics Committee has been working hard to:
- Gather and disseminate information from Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD) for ensuring multicultural topics in undergraduate and graduate curriculum.
- Gather and disseminate information from ASHA and state legislation for providing multicultural services to our client population.
- Collaborate with DEI committee to set up informational sessions. We can start by planning 3 events, 45 minutes each, marketed on Facebook and Instagram, that talk about:
- Current curriculum info and how well it is being implemented
- Current policy info and how well it is implemented in Illinois.
- Current multicultural practices in school, hospital, and university clinics in Illinois.
- Convert these presentations as ISHA voice article and publish them.
- At the June Executive Board meeting, the Assistants Task Force became an official ISHA committee within the VP Division for Professional Services. This new committee is called the Assistants and Supervisors Committee, and will be co-chaired by Burgandy Nicoson and Karen Kockler.
- ISHA’s Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee continues to work on legislation for the 2025 fall session.
- ISHA’s DEI committee co-chairs completed the DEI lecture for the ISHA 2025 Educational Series.
- ISHA’s Telepractice Committee and Technology Track-Chair are collaborating on an AAC & Telepractice Series! This series includes 3 ISHA Voice Articles and ISHA presentations. Please be sure to check out these exciting collaborations.
- ISHA’s Ethics Education Committee recorded their virtual presentation: "IYKYK: Ethics Edition"
Recognition:
Dr. Angela Riccelli, co-chair of ISHA’s DEI Committee, received the Making Waves Award from National NSSLHA for her work as the advisor for the Governors State University chapter. She will receive the award at ASHA 2025 in Washington DC.
