Legislative Pairing Project

What is the Legislative Pairing Project (LPP)?

The purpose of this project is for participating ISHA members to maintain ongoing contact with legislators, even at times when there are not critical issues at hand. As part of this project, you are asked to introduce yourself to your legislator and make at least one other contact during the year. These contacts may be in the form of emails, USPS letters, phone calls or visits to local offices. We want to be respectful of your time, so the time commitment for the LPP on your part is actually very minimal.

From time to time, ISHA sends out legislative alerts regarding issues that may be important to your practice as an audiologist or speech-language pathologist. Legislation may directly affect you or your colleagues across working various settings. Making a personal contact with legislators about issues, telling your story as to how the legislation has an impact on their constituents: you, your patients/clients and their families, really does make a difference as to how they vote.

Please consider joining the Legislative Pairing Project. We will facilitate your efforts by providing legislator contacts, and specifics about Illinois House and Senate bills so that you can speak knowledgeably about the issues. Your participation in this legislative project is greatly appreciated. Your efforts contribute significantly to the visibility and understanding of our profession in Springfield. To join our group, please contact me by email at ishalegislative@gmail.com.
