Committee Updates: March 2025
Published in the March 2025 issue of the ISHA Voice.
- The IPECP task force is growing. The committee is thrilled to welcome two new members who bring their talents to help us offer more content and professional connections spanning a variety of topics and professions. Three sessions were presented at the 2025 ISHA Convention including an introduction to interprofessional practice, an early intervention panel, and a medical panel. Gamification created a fun way for participants to engage in learning while reinforcing interprofessional knowledge and skills. The committee is thankful for the professionals and family members who shared their time and expertise with us.
- ISHA’s Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee reviewed of legislation submitted this term. The legislative agenda for ISHA on the website and available for members to view.
-
The Evidence-based Practice Committee has created an EBP Committee email address and google drive to keep committee information accessible to current members with meeting minutes, article reviews, orientation information, etc.
- The Ethics Education Committee had four entries in our Ethics in Action Video Contest. The students always amaze us with their creativity. The winners were announced on Student Day at the ISHA Convention. First place and a $150 prize went to Eastern Illinois University. Midwestern University took the second-place prize of $50. - ASHA has been hard at work identifying key advocacy efforts and providing actionable items through the ASHA Take Action page. SLPs and Audiologists are encouraged to follow current issues by signing up for Take Action notifications. It is encouraging to note that we have set record numbers in the last 2 months, with over 14,000 take action submissions to legislators to Protect Access to Care for Medicaid Beneficiaries. This is very encouraging! Please continue to write all of your legislators, including a personal statement, so that they can consider the needs of our profession and clients! A webinar was recently offered by ASHA: Proposed Medicaid Funding Changes Ahead: What Audiologists and SLPs Need to Know. A recording of this webinar will be available within the next week on ASHA Stream under the same name. Carrie Kerr, ISHA’s STAR rep to ASHA, was highlighted in the March issue of The ASHA Leader.
