EI Provider Information on ICD-10

October 7, 2015

ICD-10 is now in effect!  The Early Intervention (EI) Central Billing Office (CBO) has beneficial information on ICD-10 on the website at: www.eicbo.info.  Additionally, there are numerous websites, such as www.icd10codesearch.com, available that will assist in converting ICD-9 codes to ICD-10 codes for services rendered beginning October 1, 2015.

As an EI provider, it is your responsibility to utilize the correct code when submitting claims to insurance or EI CBO beginning October 1, 2015 or the claim will be rejected.  Dates of services prior to October 1, 2015, must still utilize ICD-9 codes or the EI CBO will reject these claims.

The Service Coordinators will secure the updated ICD-10 diagnosis codes at the next available Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) date by reaching out to the physician.  Until the next IFSP date for a child, it is responsibility of the EI provider to bill correctly using the correct rendering ICD-10 treatment code.

This information was summarized from a memo sent by Ann M. Freiburg of the Bureau of Early Intervention.  The original memo can be found here: http://eicbo.info/providers/20150925%20ICD_10%20PIN.pdf
