The Public Information and Marketing Committee promotes the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. This involves educating the consumer about communication disorders and the resources that are available through community-based participation in health and career fairs and social media. This committee is also responsible for the ISHA banner and brochures which are available for use by ISHA members. This committee works to recruit, retain, and educate professionals and ISHA members.

Public Information, Membership and Marketing Committee 2021-2022 Committee Goals

  1. Promote the use of the ISHA Banner, brochures, and PowerPoint Presentation to members in various settings for community awareness and education.
  2. Obtain the Governor’s Proclamation for May is Better Hearing and Speech Month.
  3. Continue to participate as Special Award Judges for the Chicago Public Schools Science Fair and award two $100 awards to two projects related to communication disorders.
  4. Encourage and work with members to participate in health expos and/or career days and/or job fairs.
  5. Encourage and help members to work with social media to educate the consumer as well as recruit young people to join our professions.
  6. Per the ISHA Strategic Plan:  Develop and share an educational outreach program identifying existing members engaged in community outreach.  As a part of this:  increase participation of area groups in community outreach by having at least one individual from each group submit information on an activity they’ve done to promote our professions and educate the consumer either during May or at any time of the year.
  7. Increase membership in this committee by reaching out to area groups and graduate programs.
