Join us for the upcoming 2026 Virtual Legislative Update. This session will provide a timely overview of the legislative and regulatory developments shaping the professions of audiology and speech-language pathology in Illinois.

Kimberly Pritikin and Jim Morphew will share updates on current legislative activity, regulatory changes, and ISHA's advocacy efforts on behalf of the profession. Whether you're looking to stay informed about recent developments or better understand the issues affecting your practice, this webinar will provide valuable context and practical insights into the policies influencing the future of speech-language pathology and audiology.

After attending the presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Summarize new bills/laws/regulations that may impact the practices of audiology and speech pathology.
  2. Summarize the legislative process in Illinois and how SLPs and Audiologists interact with the system as well as how they can advocate for positive changes. 
  3. Summarize any changes to the Illinois Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Practice Act and how these changes may impact practice.

Kimberly Pritikin

Kimberly Pritikin M.S. CCC-SLP holds a Bachelor of Arts from Butler University in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a Master of Science from Illinois State University in Speech/Language Pathology. Over the past 25 years, she has worked in a variety of settings including geriatric home health, home-based private services, early intervention, clinic, school-based and telepractice. Kim is currently working for California Online Public Schools providing teletherapy to students. As an invited speaker on topics regarding legislative/regulatory issues, Kim brings a sense of energy compelling the listener to take action. Serving as an advocate for both the profession and patients/clients Kim is the current VP for Legislative and Regulatory Affairs and active member of ISHA on several committees.

James M. Morphew

James M. Morphew was admitted to practice in Illinois in 1983. He joined Sorling Northrup as a partner in January of 1993. Mr. Morphew concentrates his practice in the areas of government relations, environmental law, administrative law, and election law.

Mr. Morphew previously served in a variety of staff positions with the Illinois House of Representatives, where he assisted legislative leaders on many major legislative issues. From 1984 to 1992, he practiced law in Springfield, Illinois as a sole practitioner. Mr. Morphew is a co-author of a chapter in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education Election Law Handbook entitled, “The Structure, Functions and Legal Status of Political Parties.” He has been selected by his peers as a member of the Leading Lawyers Network in the areas of Governmental, Municipal, Lobbying, and Administrative Law. He has also been selected by his peers as an Illinois “Super Lawyer” in the area of government relations, an honor bestowed on only 5% of the attorneys in Illinois.

Mr. Morphew is a member of the Illinois State and Sangamon County Bar Associations.
